Top 10 Most Haunted Places in Philippines
(The list was taken from “Rated K”)

Since we were kids, Filipinos are addicted to horror stories. We grew in a place full of folklore and mysteries. Haunted places remind us of our childhood. It reminds us about the stories our parents have told us. Let us find out the top places that would give us chills.


10. Laperal White House (Baguio)











This huge house is located at Baguio. This house was built in 1920 owned by the Laperal Family. In World War 2, the Japanese soldiers occupy the house and murdered some of the family members. This was the reason why visitors felt unwelcome when after stepping through the gate.

9. Manila City Hall














Manila City hall is famous for its coffin like shape. When the clock strikes at 6 pm the mystery starts.  According to employees, they hear strange noises, whispers and footsteps when night falls.  This was not surprising for Manila City Hall is one of the oldest structures in the Philippines.

8. Devil’s Mountain (Mt. Cristobal)












Rumor has it that these mountains are full of “Engkanto”.  Climbers pray before and after they hike. Some hikers that went alone have gone missing and never been found.

7. Ozone Disco (Quezon City)










The Ozone caught fire last March 18, 1996. Due to panicking, no one survived. 162 people were dead. The Ghost where still roaming around that place for they haven’t finish their mission.

6. Pindangan Ruins (La Union)











This place is too mysterious. It was in 1892 that the church was destroyed.  Locals say that after sunset people would avoid going there. People are afraid of entering that place because they said they have been seeing unusual things like a ghost with no head.

5. Hyatt Terraces Hotel Ruins (Baguio)












The hotel collapse after due to an earthquake on July 16, 1990. Sightings of ghosts were numerous. This spirits are still crying for help and thus voices can still be heard.
   
4. Baker Memorial Hall (UP Los Baños)














Baker hall was one of the oldest buildings in UPLB. There is an urban myth that there is an underground passage there. Students and staffs often see ghost roaming around the place.

3. Clark Air Base (Angeles City, Pampanga)














Clark air base became an American settlement. This place experienced serious bombings by the Japanese. Screams are often heard. Unidentified white forms have also been observed floating. This is one of the favorite spots of Ghost hunters here in the Philippines.

2. Manila Film Center











An accident occurred here during the ‘80s while the place was in construction. Bodies have been buried in that building. Many says that the ghost of those who died roam the area looking for live bodies to possess and take over as their own. I have been to that place. After entering that place, it immediately gave me the chills.

1. Diplomat Hotel (Baguio)











Diplomat hotel rank first in the most haunted places here in the Philippines. To date, it was actually one of the Top Most Haunted Hotels in the world. During the World War II, it was occupied by the Japanese Army Forces. Employees and guests say that they have been hearing strange sounds and headless spirits can often be seen during the night inside the hotel. The government of Baguio aims to reconstruct this hotel. But will this restoration remove its horrible past? 

         Even if this places are considered scary or cursed We Filipinos should be proud of this places. This places are part of our country. This places are proof of how exiting our culture is. This would remind us what happened for the past years so we can learn something from them. Maybe someday, I'll visit all the places listed here. I'll tell everyone I know what I have experienced.
