Vintage with a Modern Touch
I never asked for any grand celebration for
my debut. For I’m not a big fan of the good ol’ tradition of having a
cotillion, wearing long gowns with all the people’s eyes on you and of course
doing everything that revolves around the number eighteen. I’m not against it
or anything. I’m just saying (I hope my beloved parents get to read this) that
all I want for my once in a lifetime 18th birthday celebration is an
all expense paid trip to France. Specifically it’s capital city which is Paris.
Although this is impossible, my admiration for the city will sure never wear
off. I already listed the places that I will visit if ever I was lucky enough
to get my wish.
Paris.
Whenever a person hears the name, the first thing that comes to mind is the
Eiffel Tower. It is somehow known as the symbol of France. From key-chains,
pillow covers, bags, t-shirts and even in mugs the tower sure stands tall. To
tell you the truth the primary reason why I want to go to France is because I
want to witness the Eiffel Tower. When I was about eleven, I fell in love with
tower the moment I saw it in a certain movie. The way its strong legs buried to
the ground can hold up those perfectly aligned, heavy metals is simply marvelous.
May it be day or night, its beauty never fades. I strongly believe that it is the jewel of
France. Through my reading, they say that some Parisians are planning to
destroy the tower for it has no use. It was just supposed to be a welcome arc
for the World’s Fair which would celebrate the centennial of the French
Revolution. Well, I guessed Parisians did a very good job in building one.
Considering that it was built 124 years ago and still standing tall, aside from
taking the world by storm, Parisians did prove their artistry can rule the
world.
The next place I will go to is the
Versailles. It sure is a peso worthy trip to spot Marie Antoinette’s way of
living. Her garden that looks like heaven with its meadows and streams, the
hall of mirrors, and of course her fabulous bedroom. It would be a shame not to
have a glance of its elegance and beauty.
Then I would go to Notre Dame. All this
mystery going on inside the church brings us back to the story of
Quasimodo. I was planning to climb the
towers, ring the bells and just enjoy the magnificent view that it brings.
The famous glass pyramid would be my next
stop. The incredible formation of the glass inside and out the Louvre will be
hard to miss.
Then I would go shopping and food tripping.
France is known for their simple but classy style. From designer to flea
markets, Paris was said to be one of the best shopping places in the world. Of
course, everyone knows their foods are irresistible.
A trip
to Paris will never be complete without stopping by one of its coffee shops. I
love the way the chairs outside the cafes are facing the street which I think
is very social. How relaxing it will be to just sit back and stare at all the eye
candy you can see. Imagining I’m having coffee with my pen and notebook to
scribble on, I would call it a perfect day. Preferably, I would visit Laduree
coffee shop for I want to taste their deliciously expensive macaroons.
Even though I've never been to Paris,
France I love the city for so many reasons. The way they preserve their history
but still be modernized is impressive. I think the vintage look of the city is
what makes them unique. Their old buildings doesn't literally mean that their
living in the past. In fact, Paris is one of the world’s leading business and
cultural centers. Its huge influence in various areas such as politics,
fashion, and art all contribute for it to be one of the world’s major cities.
Also, it is one of the world’s tourist destinations. Whoever said that Paris is
a boring old city must be blind. Who could resist their incredible architecture
and art? There is just so much to see. You will never get tired of roaming
around the city. Another thing that makes me love Paris is that it is always
setting the fashion trend, dating back from Marie Antoinette up to now. I think
the perfect reason why Paris is such a beautiful place is because of its
solidarity. The fact that you can sit alone in a cafe and just look around is
something you can’t do in the busy streets of Manila. This truly proves that
Paris is a city of vintage with a modern touch.
